FTSP UII – Kulon Progo Tourism Office Establish Cooperation
The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning (FTSP), Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) has once again established cooperation with external parties. This time with the Tourism Office of Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).
The signing of the cooperation agreement was carried out on 24 Dzulqo'dah 1446 H / 22 May 2025 at the Meeting Room of the Kulon Progo Regency Tourism Office, Jl. Sugiman, Margosari, Pengasih, Kulon Progo, regarding the Preparation of Environmental Documents for the Kiskendo Cave Tourism Area of the Kulon Progo Regency Tourism Office for the 2025 Fiscal Year.
The signatories of the document were the Dean of FTSP UII, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ar. Ilya Fadjar Maharika, MA., IAI. and the Head of the Kulon Progo Regency Tourism Office, Joko Mursito, S.Sn., MA. The signing process was witnessed by several officials from the Kulon Progo Regency Tourism Office and lecturers from FTSP UII. The Vice Dean for Resources of FTSP UII, Dr. Ir. Kasam, MT. and the Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering of FTSP UII, Dr.Eng. Awaluddin Nurmiyanto, ST, M.Eng.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ar. Ilya Fadjar Maharika, MA., IAI. in his speech stated that FTSP UII will continue to strive and make efforts to improve networking and cooperation with external parties, in this case with the Kulon Progo Regency Tourism Office. According to him, this is an obligation to assist in developing innovation in the tourism sector, and support sustainable tourism development.
"In this program, we strive to protect the environment and maintain the sustainability of natural resources, reduce the negative impacts of tourism on local communities, and improve community welfare through tourism," he said.
Meanwhile, Joko Mursito, S.Sn., MA. on the same occasion revealed that Kiskendo Cave as one of the objects in the Kulon Progo area, should be managed well, but so far its development has been hampered by natural factors. He hopes that together with FTSP UII, they can carry out self-management of Kiskendo Cave well. "The Tourism Office wants to further develop tourism in the Kulon Progo area in order to attract tourists," he said.
He also conveyed the Work Order (SPK) for Capital Expenditure for Heritage Buildings for the Continued Development of the Revitalization of the Kiskendo Amphitheater and the Preparation of Environmental Documents (Consultation Services) for the 2025 Fiscal Year where the program is in the form of Organizing the Special Status of Yogyakarta for Cultural Affairs with Activities including the Development of Local Wisdom and Cultural Potential.
