Understanding the Earth, UII Holds Free Vehicle Emission Tests

Islamic University of Indonesia (UII) held an activity Free Vehicle Emission Test for four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles as a celebration of the 82nd Milad on Monday to Thursday, May 5-8, 2025. The activity, which was initiated together with the Environmental Quality Laboratory, is located in the yard of the Ki Bagoes Hadikoesoemo Sports Hall, UII Integrated Campus, Jalan Kaliurang km. 14,5 starting at 08.00 to 15.00 WIB.

Carrying the theme "UII Understands the Earth", this activity is a real manifestation of UII's commitment to increasing environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable lifestyles among academics and the wider community.

In his speech, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Ilya Fadjar Maharika, MA, IAI. said "Our goal is to raise awareness, so we as humans who always do mobility have an environmental impact in the form of emissions released into the air. So build awareness so that later we can take responsibility," he said.

In line with this, Prof. Eko Siswoyo, ST, M.Sc.ES., Ph.D., Chairman of the Emission Test Organizing Committee said "through this activity, we invite the public to care about the condition of their vehicles as well as about cleaner and healthier air quality."

Emission testing is a test to determine the performance of a vehicle's engine, especially related to the levels of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions produced. The emission test pass standard depends on the age and type of fuel of the vehicle. Several stages of inspection are carried out before the emission test, such as cleaning the air filter, checking the engine cooling system, and checking the condition of the exhaust as a channel for exhausting combustion gases.

The benefits of emission testing not only affect air quality, but also benefit drivers and the vehicle itself. Through emission testing, vehicle owners can find out the level of emissions produced and determine the right maintenance steps to maintain engine health and performance.

This emission test activity also involves several partners, including Honda Anugerah Mlati, Nasmoco Mlati, and Bank Syariah Indonesia. Participants who have taken the emission test have the opportunity to check the battery, do consultations, and light checks. By showing proof of emission test results, participants will get a 20% discount on service fees and 5% on spare parts at Honda Anugerah Mlati. Meanwhile, participants with Toyota cars get a 25% discount on service fees at Nasmoco Mlati.

In addition to emission testing, the event was enlivened by Auto Show and Test Drive in collaboration with Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). Participants have the opportunity to directly try out the latest vehicles from Mitsubishi Xforce, BYD Seal, and Honda CRV through the facilities Test Drive which has been prepared in the UII GOR area.

This activity received a warm welcome from the academic community, both lecturers, education staff, students, and local residents. Many visitors felt helped by the emission test service, while also getting the experience of driving a new vehicle directly.
